Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with the U.S. Mint’s 2026 Semiquincentennial quarter series, featuring five new designs that honor the Nation’s history and founding ideals.
Be among the first to own the third release in the 2026 series: the Declaration of Independence quarter. This design showcases the Liberty Bell, a powerful symbol of America’s founding era that once hung in the Pennsylvania State House, now known as Independence Hall, when the Declaration of Independence was signed.
This two-roll set includes 80 circulating-quality quarters struck at the United States Mints in Denver and Philadelphia.
For one year only, the U.S. Mint is marking the 2026 Semiquincentennial with special coins and medals, along with design changes to most circulating coins. These releases commemorate 250 years of American liberty while reflecting the principles that shaped the United States.
The obverse of the 2026 Declaration of Independence quarter features Thomas Jefferson, principal author of the Declaration of Independence and third President of the United States. Inscriptions include “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “1776 ~ 2026.”
The reverse depicts the Liberty Bell ringing. Although it is uncertain whether the Bell rang in July 1776, it was often used to call people together for important announcements and declarations. Its visible crack evokes the fragility of the young nation at its founding. Inscriptions include “THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE,” “QUARTER DOLLAR,” “LIBERTY,” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”
Please note: United States Mint coins are rolled by an automated machine process, not by hand. The U.S. Mint cannot guarantee that either the obverse or reverse side of a coin will appear at the end of a roll.
