The American Women Quarters honor a diverse group of notable American women who made significant contributions in a variety of fields, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts. The women honored are from ethnically, racially, and geographically diverse backgrounds.

Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts of the United States of America on March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia. The organization started with 18 girls and has grown to approximately 2.5 million adult and girl members worldwide.

The reverse (tail) design depicts a likeness of Juliette Gordon Low next to the original Girl Scout trefoil, which she designed and patented. The inscriptions are “JULIETTE GORDON LOW” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” with “QUARTER DOLLAR” and “FOUNDER of GIRL SCOUTS of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA” inscribed around the coin’s border.

The obverse (heads) depicts a portrait of George Washington. This design was originally composed and sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser as a candidate entry for the 1932 quarter, which honored the bicentennial of George Washington’s birth. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2025.”
