2025-Vera Roberts Quarters-Rolls-PDS

The three-roll set comprises 120 circulating-quality coins minted at United States Mints located in Denver, Philadelphia, and San Francisco.

The American Women Quarters program acknowledges a diverse group of distinguished American women who have made significant contributions across various sectors, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts. These women hail from ethnically, racially, and geographically diverse backgrounds.

Dr. Vera Rubin was a renowned American astronomer whose work provided critical evidence for the existence of dark matter. Despite facing challenges in achieving recognition within her field, Rubin emerged as a pivotal figure in astrophysics and advocated for women in STEM disciplines. Her research has profoundly influenced our understanding of the universe and continues to impact modern cosmology.

The reverse design features a profile of Dr. Vera Rubin looking upward, encircled by a spiral galaxy and other celestial bodies. Inscriptions include “DR. VERA RUBIN,” “QUARTER DOLLAR,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” An additional inscription, “DARK MATTER," appears at the bottom of the design.

The obverse (heads) presents a portrait of George Washington. This design was originally created by Laura Gardin Fraser as a candidate entry for the 1932 quarter, commemorating the bicentennial of George Washington’s birth. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2025.”

Recognize the achievements of women who have contributed to historic change by beginning or expanding your collection of the new American Women Quarters!
