In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, the United States has produced these proof coins in a unique prestige set. The includes both regular coinage and coins, commemorating the Statue of Liberty on Ellis island. These 1986 striking's are the first government issued Coins ever to feature the statue, and they are the only legal tender coins that will be minted to assist with the restoration of these national monuments. A portion of the purchase price of this set will be used to help pay for the restoration, and to create an endowment for the future maintenance of these national treasures. All seven of the coins were struck in proof condition at the San Francisco assay office they have been produced with specially prepared dies and blanks to assure the highest quality, brilliant luster, and magnificent detail. In addition to their intricate value, they afford you the opportunity to only once-in-a- lifetime memento of the liberty centennial celebration. Each coin has been struck in accordance with the coin specifications mandated by law.
